The keel is an engineering solution for supporting a large structure off the floor on just two supports, like a boat in dry dock. The curved side allows for deep storage in most of the "hull" and shallow shelving in the prow which tapers in to a chimney breast.
The top is made from an old Iroko laboratory worktop. The superstructure is stained Plywood and the curved drawer fronts are rough planed MDF, stained with a blend of Oswax colours which give it a primitive pitted ceramic texture.
"Quite accidental, but I love it!" commented Nicky
